Only days until the 2008 Bay City Western Track & Field Invitational. This year looks to have the best overall field of athletes & teams in its nine year history. The boys side will boast many athletes with All-State credentials. In the sprints there will be Dominique Endline (DOW), Trenton Robinson and his sprint crew from BC Central. The distance races will provide amazing competition with names like Walker, Cassidy, Wall, Hurrell, Ruiz, Romer, Love, Bourchard, Acevado, and Phillips along with solid distance runners from Brighton and Lakeland. Alpena brings its big throwers and Midland with its well balanced team will make the evening interesting.
The girls meet will not take a back seat to the boys. Midland, Flushing, and Brighton enter the meet with invitational wins. Flushing girls have solid hurdling and middle distance, as well as strength in the field. Brighton also brings good speed as well as a strong distance crew. Lakeland girls always come prepared and have a solid distance contingent along with Alison White (Dow) and Francie Phillips (Western) will add to a solid distance field. Midland girls also have good balance all over the track and field events. These ladies will provide many entertaining races as well as competition for the team title.
